Research Program 2: Developing Innovation and Safety Cultures

Program Leader: Professor Russell Kenley, Swinburne University of Technology

Research Program 2: Developing Innovation and Safety Cultures will deliver improved social outcomes for built environment workers and the Australian community through increased uptake of sustainable practices and minimising environmental health and safety risks.

Four projects have been approved:

2.1        Safety Impacts of Alcohol and Other Drugs in Construction

2.2        Offsite Fabrication and Links to Product and Process Innovation

2.7        Leveraging R&D for the Australian Built Environment

The signature project in this program is The Safety Impacts of Alcohol and Other Drugs in Construction. This project will fundamentally contribute to a greater understanding of the impact of the alcohol and other drugs in the Australian infrastructure and building industry and, critically, bring together the employer, employee, and employee representative groups nationally. Never before has this level of collaboration been possible at a national level.
